Company Establishment
Emerald Industrial CFZE was formally founded in 2020 as a multimodal manufacturing and service platform focused on energy, industrialization, and infrastructure development across Africa.
The company was established following a management buy-out of General Electric's MMF (Manufacturing & Maintenance Facility) in Nigeria, with support from Beacon Development Partners (BDP), laying the foundation for its transition into a fully independent African driven industrial and power technology company.
2021.
Establishment of Operations at Calabar Free Trade Zone
After its formation, Emerald Industrial CFZE secured and expanded its world class manufacturing facility in the Calabar Free Trade Zone a strategically located industrial hub that enables efficient manufacturing, assembly, warehousing, and export operations. The facility became the company's operational backbone, positioning Emerald as a scalable manufacturer of power components and industrial systems.
2022.
Expansion of Core Capabilities
Emerald Industrial strategically expanded its operational portfolio to encompass critical industrial verticals, including advanced power-systems manufacturing and assembly, oil and gas support services, renewable and emerging energy technologies, as well as healthcare and social infrastructure solutions. This expansion strengthens domestic manufacturing, localizes the supply chain, and reduces reliance on imported energy components. By 2022, Emerald Industrial significantly expanded local manufacturing capacity for electricity components and power distribution technologies, directly supporting improved energy reliability across Nigeria.
2023.
Strengthening Technical Capacity and Industry Focus
Key milestones included growth of technical jobs at the Calabar Free Trade Zone facility, the upskilling of local engineers and technicians, and increased production output of industrial-grade components built to international quality standards.
2024 - 2025.
Business Diversification and Sector Growth
Through its collaboration with IndyGeneUS AI, Emerald Industrial advanced a major technology enabled healthcare initiative to increase the participation of African women in genetic and clinical research highlighting the company's commitment to data driven innovation and meaningful social impact across Africa.
